This pistol falls right in the middle of the First Model serial number range of the Model 1891. It is a single shot pistol made on revolver-type frame with recoil shield left intact, rare factory nickel finish, blued trigger guard and black hard rubber Smith & Wesson extension grips. Has a Paine style front sight with round barrel, full rib, and rear target sight. Manufactured 1893 to 1905. Pistol retains approximately 85% original factory nickel with some age freckling under rib and a couple other minor age spots. Blue-grey patina on trigger guard. Grips are excellent with no chips. Strong rifling with some minor abrasion. A very rare little Smith & Wesson turn of the century target pistol.
