Approximately 310 revolvers were manufactured in nickel finish with a 7" barrel and detachable buttstock. A broad arrow proof mark is stamped on the butt next to serial number. There is an oval mounting hole on back of backstrap, and the rear grip strap extends beyond the grips. The stock is made of walnut with a Smith & Wesson logo black composite buttplate and has nickel attaching system. The hardware and wooden buttstock are stamped with Serial No. 768 and there is no broad arrow, which tells us that this stock is an original Smith & Wesson stock, but not made for this gun. Walnut stock is in excellent to near mint condition with virtually all of the nickel intact on hardware, albeit some frosting. Matching serial numbers on cylinder and latch. Features full nickel finish with fire blue barrel catch, case colored trigger guard, two piece walnut grips, pinned half moon front sight. Walnut grips have a 0 in pencil on both panels. Barrel retains approximately 20% original nickel with the balance blended smooth grey. Cylinder retains approximately 85% original nickel. Left side of frame retains approximately 30% nickel and approximately 50% nickel on right side. 80% nickel on straps. All metal surface that does not retain nickel blends perfectly with a smooth, grey patina. Indexes and locks up fine with a strong, clean bore with light frosting. This revolver falls directly into the accepted serial number range.
