Single Action Army revolver manufactured by Colt in 1940. Frame is case colored, with the barrel, cylinder, trigger guard, and grip straps being blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece brown plastic Colt grips. Blade front sight with notch rear sight. Left side of barrel is marked "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL", with Colt's single line address across the top. Left side of frame bears patent information followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Frame, cylinder, trigger guard, and grip straps are all matching. Assembly number on rear of frame and on loading gate are matching. Accompanied by a factory letter indicating shipment as a blue .38 Special 5 - 1/2" gun sold to Kelley-How-Thomson Company, Duluth, Minnesota, and sent to Marchion Hardware Company, Anaconda, Montana in a shipment of 1 sent January 18th, 1940. CONDITION: Very good overall, with blued components showing a few areas of wear as well as some scattered handling marks. Frame retains good case coloring all around, with some areas of wear. Cylinder shows wear from use and cycling of the action. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing and some light impressions, but are otherwise fine. MLW
