Made by the Marlin Firearms Company, New Haven Connecticut circa 1915; Flayderman lists that only 61 of these 15" carbines were built. Carbine has factory 15" blued round barrel marked "MARLIN FIREARMS Co. NEW HAVEN CT. U.S.A./PATENTED OCT. 11,1887. APRIL 2, 1889. AUG. 1, 1893." and "FOR BLACK POWDER" with integral raised blade front sight and rear carbine graduated flip sight. Case hardened solid frame receiver with "MARLIN SAFETY" marking, factory saddle ring, full blued tubular magazine, and plain trigger. Tang marked "MARLIN MODEL 1893". Plain walnut carbine style stock with case hardened carbine style buttplate with matching plain walnut carbine style forearm. All matching numbers on wood and tang. Comes with ATF exempt letter. CONDITION: Overall good with metal turning a pleasing blue/plum patina with carry areas starting to fade to silver. Receiver has turned plum with visible saddle ring shadow and worn carry areas. Wood has traces of original varnish with usage wear areas and areas with dark oil-stained appearance. Good bore with crisp mechanics. A super rare gun in honest condition!
