Lot consists of (A) Webley Mark VI, standard configuration of the iconic British revolver. 1918 date, with appropriate British proofing throughout. Vulcanite grips, solid holster guides. In a canvas holster with United Carr snap and illegible inkstamp. CONDITION: Very good as carefully refinished so as to leave legends easily legible. Some areas of pitting visible throughout, and some very minor handling marks. Grips are excellent with some minor abrasion to heads. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with some pits commensurate with exterior. Canvas holster is very good, with a few very minor spots of age discoloration. (B) Enfield No. 2 MKI* with war time finish. These pistols were in use from 1938 and had spurless hammers for use in double action only, with the double star version introduced in 1942 and simplified for wartime production; they were shortly afterwards discontinued due to safety concerns. Standard configuration with Vulcanite grips with ribbed grasping area and ergonomic thumb area at top, and a military blue canvas holster with United Carr snap. CONDITION: Revolver is coated in a reapplied thick paint finish, possibly factory as some of these were used post-War, which has heavily softened legends. Some areas of lighting throughout, mostly on frame and cylinder, with cylinder being largely gunmetal on high edges with flashes of paint, more retained in flutes. Some pitting visible under finish on barrel. Visible cylinder proofs, broad arrows, and DI mark, but tonnage proof on barrel assembly is week and rib marks are softened. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent. From the Personal Collection of Esteemed Firearms Researcher and Collector Edwin F. Libby. EMW
