Extremely rare and correct special ordered Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 carbine in the rare .35 Remington caliber. Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1951. The .35 Remington caliber was cataloged from 1941 to 1947 and was available until 1954 with 404 total rifles built in the caliber. .35 Remington is listed as the rarest caliber in the Carbine style with 7,197 total carbines made in all 7 of the factory calibers listed. Rifle has blued 20" Winchester Proof Steel barrel marked with Winchester address and "MODEL 70- 35 REM." with underside correctly marked with "35R" and dated correctly "41". Stippled hooded ramp front sight and correct Winchester 22G rear adjustable sight. Type III matted finish receiver with correct electropenciled matching serial number bolt, "R" marked extractor, bolt face measuring the correct .475 which is smaller than standard .485, 3 position Type III safety, correct solid handle bolt handle, and "R" inspector's mark. Correct blued steel detachable floorplate. 18 line-per-inch checkered walnut stock with low comb and correct steel checkered buttplate. CONDITION: 95% original blue with some light edge and handling wear. Bolt handle shows usage wear and is starting to turn to a silvery patina. Floorplate shows 95% original blue with brown edges and light handling marks. 95% original varnish with sharp original checkering and showing some dings and marks from usage on right side of stock. Excellent bore and mechanics. A truly honest, well cared for, original, rare Model 70 carbine in an extremely hard to find configuration and caliber!
