This is a very scarce 243 code 98k Mauser rifle made at the Borgiswalde factory in 1938. Eagle L marked on the stock for the Luftwaffe. All numbers are matching including the handguard. The band spring is unnumbered. Missing the cleaning rod. Duffle bag cut under the rear band. Original leather sling. Has what appears to be an arsenal repair to the butt. Missing the locking screws from the trigger guard. CONDITION: Retains 80% thinning finish overall mixed with a pleasing patina. All markings in metal are sharp and clear. Stock markings are worn but legible. Wood has dings and handling marks, the hand guard is split in two. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. Sling has scuff marks but is solid.
