Gun retains a pleasing metal color overall with 40% original blue. All markings are clear. Receiver made in 1905 by serial number. "SA 05" marked barrel. Early bolt with no markings on the bottom of the safety lug. No-bolt finger groove stock. Large rectangular script cartouche on left side. Does not have the circle "P" proof. Early hand guard without cutout for sighting. Proper rear sight. This gun is still in the original .30-03 caliber. Most of these were upgraded in 1906 with the adoption of the new cartridge, so to find a gun still in the original caliber is very difficult. The distance from the bolt face to the muzzle is 24-1/4". Brown leather U.S. military sling of the earlier pattern.
