Model 1901 Mannlicher "Pocket" manufactured by Steyr. These "Pocket" Models are nearly identical in everyway to the larger 1901 and 1905 variations, albeit featuring shorter barrels, grip frames, and the notable absence of the lanyard provision on the butt. The left side of the receiver sideplate is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/ STEYR", with the right side reading "SYSTEM/ MANNLICHER". Major metal components are blued, while some smaller components are polished in-the-white. Hammer has been nitre blued at one point in time. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Frame, barrel, receiver sideplate, and slide all bear the full serial number "119", with remaining components including the follower, trigger bar, sear, hammer, as well asa on the magazine unload lever. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original factory applied rust blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear showing through to gray patina, some spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some scattered areas of inactive oxidation. Exposed in-the-white components show some age related discoloration, but are otherwise very good. Bore is bright, exhibiting some pitting and retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing, as well as some mild handling marks and impressions, but are otherwise sturdy and serviceable. A nice example of a scarce and seldom encountered Steyr Mannlicher Model 1901 "Pocket" pistol.
