1905 vintage Winchester Model 1894 takedown deluxe lever action rifle, serial number 257976. 24" 1938 dated round replacement barrel chambered in .30-30 WCF with 2/3rds takedown magazine tube, standard rifle rear sight, and ramped front. 2 piece checkered deluxe grain walnut pistol grip stock and forearm with rifle forearm cap, Winchester hard rubber grip cap, and checkered Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Lower tang has been reshaped to deluxe configuration and renumbered "484" to match stock. Comes with Cody Firearms Museum research stating that this rifle was originally a Winchester 1894 takedown with octagon barrel chambered in .32-40 WCF with plain trigger. Research further documents that the serial number was applied at the factory March 08, 1905 and this gun was shipped from the warehouse May 13, 1905. CONDITION: Very good as assembled, with barrel retaining a vast majority of its bluing, with scattered areas of light handling and storage marks. Receiver is very good with an attractive amount of original Winchester factory bluing remaining with the balance turned a brown gray patina. Stock and forearm are excellent with minor handling marks and no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Would make an excellent shooter or display piece. TON
