Circa 1977. A very nice pair of side by side lightweight game guns made in Birmingham by one the most sought makers. This handsome pair is built with 28" blacked nitro proofed dovetail steel barrels with 2 - 3/4" chambers and ejectors. Barrel ribs are smooth, concave, and tapered, equipped with round steel front bead sights, numbered "1" and "2" in gold (near breech) and read "A.A. BROWN & SONS, BIRMINGHAM, THE SUPREME". Barrel flats with Birmingham proofs and marked ".729", "12" (in diamond), "2 3/4"", "3 1/4 TONS". Bottom of left barrels stamped with serial numbers "79661" and "79662" accordingly. Chokes are all Improved Cylinder. Coin finished side lock actions with gold line cocking indicators, fine rose and scroll engraving, ribbon reading "A.A.BROWN & SONS.", are built with double triggers, and are non-auto safe. "SAFE" is gold. Blacked engraved top levers are numbered "1" and "2" in gold and have checkered thumb pieces. Safe slides are engraved and checkered. Bottom actions are scroll engraved and read "THE SUPREME" on trigger plate, near trigger guard bow. Beautiful reddish brown walnut stock with a bit of feathering have been built with drop points, English straight hand grips, with sharp checkering and diamond shape, gold oval engraved "DSH", and checkered butt stock, both bent to "Cast-on" position. Triggers are protected by blacked left hand rolled edged engraved guards that extend to blacked bottom straps that are engraved with scrolls and the individual gun's serial numbers. Matched checkered splinter forends are designated with scroll engraved diamond shaped pins. Escutcheons are engraved with scrolls and numbered "1" and "2" in gold. Both with Anson push button releases. Guns live in a leather motor case with black and gold "A.A. BROWN & SONS" leather trade label. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels with 75+% original black with some handling marks from use. Actions, triggers, and ejectors are sound. Stocks and forends with light handling marks. Case is very good with some handling and storage marks. Truly a rare and desirable pair of best quality game guns.
