Circa 1980. A lovely London made game gun with 27" nitro proof chopper lump blacked barrels. Barrels are fit smartly with 3" chambers, Holland & Holland's patent self-opening mechanism, ejectors, matte game concave tapered rib, third fastener lug, and cut out for side clips. Rib with round steel front bead. Barrels are adorned with engraved foliate scroll at breech panels. Right barrel reads "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and left barrel reads "13 BRUTON STREET, LONDON". Barrel flats marked with London Proof "LP / 80", "20" (in diamond)", "3", "3 1/2 TONS". Chokes are Improved Modified in left barrel and Improved Cylinder in right. The coin finished hand detachable side lock action has been built with side clips, third fastener, double triggers, and is auto-safe. The action is beautifully engraved with Holland & Holland's chiseled foliate scroll and carved fences of oak leaves. Sidelock plates with gold line cocking indicators and with "Holland & Holland" engraved in ribbon. Water table engraved with gun's serial number "40474". Double triggers are protected by a right hand rolled edged trigger guard that extends to a full length bottom strap that has matched engraving and with gold serial number "40474" inlaid. The handsome Turkish walnut stock with smoky marbling is built with a finely checkered English straight hand grip, drop points, diamond grip shape, vacant gold oval, and checkered butt. Long splinter forend with matched checkering has an engraved escutcheon and Anson forend release. Handsome gun lives in a leather case with brass corners, canvas outer and snap caps, cleaning rod, striker pot with extra strikers, cleaning equipment, and small black and gold Holland & Holland trade label in lid. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain mostly all of their original color and bores are bright. Action, triggers and ejectors are sound. Stock and forend are excellent with light handling marks. Case is very good. Excellent gun.
