In 1985, Smith & Wesson produced 2500 Model 29-3 .44 Magnum revolvers as a tribute to one of America's most beloved gun writers and firearms sage. They were a blue finish, 4" revolver with the smooth rosewood magna grips. The fluted cylinder has gold printed states such as 1st Outstanding Hand-gunner, Salmon Idaho, Six-guns, Hell, I was there representing his birth place, 1st Hand-gunner award and two of his most popular books. The left side of the barrel is stamped in gold "Smith & Wesson .44 magnum". Left side of frame is stamped 1-2500 and this one is serial number EMK 1119. The right side of the barrel is stamped "Elmer Keith Commemorative -44 magnum-1899-1984. The right side of frame has gold image of Keith and facsimile signature. CONDITION: Near new condition in walnut display case missing plaque from top.
