With developmental roots tracing back to World War II, the Sterling L2 and its variants proved to be a popular, cost-effective, and reliable weapon, favored among military and police personnel at the time. Today, it is an easily recognizable firearm even to the uninitiated, having become an iconic weapon within the Star Wars movie franchise. This example is marked "STERLING" above stampings stipulating the caliber, model, and serial number on top of the magazine well, with a "CHASAN" import stamp followed by this example's serial number "005" on the left hand side of the receiver tube. Metal components are finished in a black "wrinkle" finish with other features including a folding stock and bayonet lug, as well as a 10" barrel fitted with tri-lug adaptor to accept Heckler & Koch style suppressors. Selector is marked "A R S", (A) for Automatic, (R) for Semi-automatic, and (S) for Safe. Pistol grip is comprised of a one-piece black checkered plastic that feature "FREE" and "LOCK" on the right-hand side. Current registration lists this example as a "STEN" with a 7 - 3/4" barrel. Complete with two additional 34 round magazines, as well as a manual by Michael A. Pugliese covering the L1A1, L2A3, and L34A1 Sterling variants. CONDITION: Extremely fine overall with metal components retain bountiful amounts of their black "wrinkle" finish, exhibiting a few small areas of extremely light rubbing. Stampings are soft, and are illegible in some places. Mirror bore, with well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Magazines exhibit varying degrees of superficial wear and retain a light coat of cosmoline all around. A very attractive example of a Sterling L2A3 MK IV machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. -MLW-
