Manufactured by Tikkakoski Oy, this one of the most desirable (and fun to shoot) models of 9mm machine guns of World War II. This is an early configuration production model Suomi KP/-31 machine gun without muzzle brake. Receiver and shroud are matching numbers. Two original 71-round drums with one canvas carrier are included with this lot, as well as four original 36-round stick magazines, a spare magazine retention latch with spring which will adapt this gun to utilize the post-war stick mags, a hardcover German/English book on the Suomi M31 machine gun, and a Wikipedia print-out about the “Continuation War” in which this model was used. Two original vintage Finnish fighting knives are included with this lot, one of which has an engraved blade. This model machine gun incorporates the very convenient feature of an easily removable barrel shroud and barrel for cleaning. The latch on the right side of the receiver rotates to allow the entire shroud to rotate to unlock from the receiver and be removed. This, in turn, allows the barrel to be pulled forward and off the receiver for cleaning or replacement. An innovated idea on a pistol caliber machine gun. Barrel is marked, “9 M/M PARA” over “4-17-42”. There is a professionally retrofitted, likely period based upon the finish, ejection port chute on the right side of the receiver which would be attractive to a left-handed firer. The quality of materials, fit, and finish is top-notch throughout this piece. Electronic NFA registry indicates, “TIKKAKOSKI OY” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is an extremely fine original lustrous blue finish fading to a pleasing smooth gray patina in places with some brown patina on the ejection port chute. Magazines have near excellent blue finish. Barrel is a uniform gray patina with a near excellent bright and shiny bore. Bolt face also near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. Wood is exceptionally attractive with some light handling marks, including a slight scar on left side below the tang. Sling is strong, supple and serviceable. This is a select fire machine gun. One of the knives has an engraved blade and is noteworthy as a presentation piece. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-12-48.
