Harrington & Richardson manufactured approximately 54,000 of these Handy Guns between 1921 and the passage of the National Firearms Act in 1934. These Handy Guns were found to be quite popular, as there were many different (albeit small) variations that found usage for home defense and hunting small game. Due to the numerous and interesting variations, these are quite a fun and interesting firearm for one to collect. The right side of the receiver is marked with the Harrington & Richardson address, with the left being marked "H&R. Handy-Gun". The top of the barrel is marked "28 Gauge", with the barrel lug baring the serial number on the left hand side. Barrel is blued with the frame retaining a striped case colored finish. Checkered wood grip with plain wood forend. Front bead sight is not present. CONDITION: Barrel retains vast majority of its blue finish, showing only minor cosmetic wear to the bluing. Striped case colored frame also retains the majority of its finish, with some minor cosmetic wear and small concentrated areas of corrosion to the rear portion of the frame around the grip. The top rear tang has been cut down at some point, with the full serial number being present underneath the grip on the left side. All markings are sharp and clearly legible. Bore is fine. Overall, fine mechanical function. Wood components are excellent, retaining nearly all of their original varnish. Pistol grip has small chip at the base, with numerous dings scattered all around. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM WILL INCUR A $5.00 TRANSFER TAX IF TRANSFERRED ON AN ATF FORM 4. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 CLASSIFIED AS "ANY OTHER WEAPON". MW
