Confederate manufactured artillery short sword by E.J. Johnston, Macon, Georgia. These swords are recognizable due to distinctive features in the cast brass guard. The brass on this example displays the typical flaws associated with legitimate Confederate blades. CONDITION: Blade displays an overall dark brown patina with pitting moderate pitting uniform across the blade. Scabbard is most likely a Union example but fits perfect and is correct model for the sword. PROVENANCE: Former Middle Tennessee Relics.
