Featured in the book Heroes in our midst by LTC (Ret.) John R. Angolia. U.S. fixed bail medic’s airborne helmet to the 3 Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The helmet has the original World War II painted finish and has a medic’s emblem painted on the front in white and red paint. Helmet also has the 501st PIR diamond painted on the both sides in white, as well as a NCO horizontal bar painted in white on the rear. There is a small painted dash in front of the two 501st diamonds on the sides. All six emblems exhibit the correct wear and aging for a helmet which is 70 plus years old. Liner is correct airborne style and appears to be named to a Private. Name and other details are illegible. It is likely the soldier was promoted to a NCO and retained the same helmet and liner assembly. Lot also contains a color photocopy of the page in a book where the helmet was featured. Liner has extensive damage to the webbing. The liner is also cracked on top. Helmet has several dents on the top and extensive freckling and spotting throughout. Helmet also has a 2” crack to the left front of the medic’s emblem. A unique opportunity to own a rare helmet.
Condition: (Fair).
