Gun retains a pleasing patina overall with some traces of finish. Markings are clear. Good mechanical function. Stock is solid with a crack in the wrist and numerous small dings and handling marks. Numbers are not matching. Bore has strong rifling. Made in 1916 by Erfurt. Does not appear to be import marked. Brown leather sling. Accompanying this gun is a WWI era Aher-Werke Bielefeld saw back bayonet with a Crown M proof mark on the hilt. This is not the correct bayonet for this gun, but is actually for a full length GEW98 Mauser rifle. Not dated. Blade has been sharpened at some point. Wood grips are good showing some wear. Light pitting on hilt. Comes in a proper scabbard with a black leather frog.
