The New Model No. 3 was a new catalog item in Smith & Wesson from 1878 to 1908. The .32-44 was a special round desiogned for this gun using long brass cases, with the bullet seated completely in the case. These hand guns were especially fitted and finished, and dominated the target ranges at the turn of the century. Features six shot, single action, target sights, blued finish and diamond checkered walnut grips. Right grip panel is stamped "351" twice and the same number can be found on the back of the cylinder and back of barrel. Gun has been fired. Cylinder has drag line with overall high edge wear. Trigger guard and hammer are case colored and mostly patterned out. Front grip strap has moth of the blue but thinning. Rear grip strap is patina mixed with blue. Disregarding straps the balance of revolver retains approximately 95% of the original finish with a fine, clean bore and action. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
