This early model 1897 was built in 1903. Standard takedown with round knob. It is devoid of any original finish, but the markings are strong. At some point a hobbyist shortened this full choke barrel to 20" and fitted it with a reproduction handguard and bayonet attachment, the rear stock was shorten and a Springfield rifle buttplate with trap was added along with a 1903 Springfield rear sling swivel. The round groove forend does have several stress cracks. Has a decent bore and operates correctly. Could be a great gun to go out and have some fun with.
