RARE MODEL 1872 ORVILLE M. ROBINSON PATENT TUBE LOADING REPEATING RIFLE MANUFACTURED BY ADIRONDACK FIREARMS COMPANY.ADIRONDACK ARMS1872 TYPE II30.44 RFCal .44 RF, 24-3/8" oct bbl with full magazine, gun metal receiver. Straight grained American walnut stock with brass crescent buttplate. Bbl has brass blade front sight and semi buckhorn rear sight. Bbl has no visible markings. Gun metal receiver has SN "30" stamped on the bottom forward end near bbl. Receiver has "PT" stamped on left side toward receiver. Receiver has adjustment slide on left side with "HD" stamped on forward end. Receiver has hinged loading port on lower right side. Bolt is iron and is stamped "Robinson's Pat. Apr. 28 d 72." over "MF'd By Adirondack Firearms Co." over Plattsburgh. N.Y." Receiver has an iron cartridge elevator and a gun metal trigger guard/lower tang. Bolt has a rnd checkered cocking knob on right side. Hammer top is checkered. Stock has no visible markings. Buttplate is also unmarked. Bottom tang screw is a modern replacement. It is believed that the Adirondack Co. was a financed entity only and that Babbit was the manufacturer of all of these guns. The Adirondack Firearms Co. was purchased in its entirety by Winchester in 1874. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube are a mottled gray brown patina with high-point wear. Bore is black. Front sight is very good. Rear sight is missing elevator. Gun metal receiver is a mustard brown patina with staining. Adjustment slide on left side has traces of dark blue. Markings are readable. Loading gate is a plumb brown patina. Gate spring has a small crack. Action is jammed shut, no attempt was made to force it open. Bolt is a gray brown patina with staining. Marking is sharp. Elevator is a plumb brown patina with some small scratches. Elevator has a small crack at the rear. Trigger guard/lower tang is also a mustard brown patina. Upper tang has a groove cut across in front of tang screw. Stock is very good, varnish finish overall, with handling marks and dents. Stock has been repaired at the wrist. Buttplate is a deep mustard brown patina with stains. An opportunity to obtain an extremely rare Robinson Repeating Rifle with less than 600 estimated to be manufactured. 50013-5 TEP (3,500-5,000)
