COLLECTOR'S LOT OF THREE CYQ SPREEWERKE P-38 PISTOLS. SPREEWERKE P38 362 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Standard markings on right and left sides of slide. Left side of frame marked SN, postwar Austrian eagle "BH". SN on left side of slide is not matching, matching number stamped on top left flat of slide. Bbl number is not matching, matching number stamped on left lug after eagle 135 proof. Black Bakelite grips. Unmarked phosphate mag. Accompanied by brown leather flap holster with weak markings. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Fine condition as postwar arsenal refurbished. Some pitting under finish on hold open lever. Markings are clear. Grips are fine with light scratches and handling marks. Bore has moderate pitting throughout with visible rifling. Fine mechanical function. Eagle 359 inspected mag. Matching SN's on slide frame and bbl. This gun is described on p. 140, pictured p. 142 of The P38 Pistol, Vol. II, by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by black leather flap holster. Marked on back "P.38/jwa/4". PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Good condition with considerable finish wear. Minor dings and handling marks. All markings clear. Grips are fine with minor handling marks. Bore is worn with moderate pitting, visible rifling. Mechanics are functional. UNUSUAL S MARKED SPREEWERKE P38 9MM PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. SPREEWERKE P38 r 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Left side of slide marked "P.38", "cyq". Right side of slide has standard eagle 88 proof. There is no evidence of a SN ever having been on the left side of slide or frame. Only marking on left side of frame is a lower case "r". Gun is marked with enigmatic "S" in numerous places. This gun is further described on p. 188, pictured on pgs. 189 & 190 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II, by Warren Buxton. SN from front of bbl has been carefully removed, "a" still visible underneath. Eagle 88 inspected. "S" marked mag. Brown Bakelite grips. Accompanied by dark brown leather flap holster marked on back "bla/1944", WaA159 inspector's mark, "P38". PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Fine condition, with light handling marks. Markings clear. Very good grips with minor chip out of bottom corner left grip, top rear of right grip.
