FINE HIGH CONDITION LATE '20'S BOSS SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME SHOTGUN WITH CASE.BOSSSIDELOCK SQ ACTION748212caseMODERN; C&RCal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 28" Chopper lump bbls are engraved "Boss & Co 13, Dover Street, Piccadilly, London. W. Made In England" on swamped narrow game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with SNs and Whitworth Steel logos. Case hardened action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), disc set strikers, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators, and dbl triggers, and is engraved in Boss house style with exceptional small shaded scroll surrounding 18 rose bouquets by noted engraver Jack Sumner. "Boss & Co" is on each lockplate. Single beaded trigger guard is blued, engraved with matching scroll, and has SN in shaded background on tang. Dense, nicely fiddle figured European walnut straight grip buttstock with typical drop points, point pattern grip checkering, and gold oval engraved "EBK" measures 14-1/4" over checkered wood butt on 1-1/4" ebony lengthening piece. Matching splinter Boss ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.729, right - .729. Bore restrictions: left - .012 (lt mod), right - .007 (IC). Wall thickness: left - .028, right - .028. Drop at heel: 2-1/8", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/8 off. Weight: 6 lbs. 9 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Small leather case marked "MADE IN ENGLAND" with "EBK" on lid, is lined in burgundy cloth, and has Boss Dover Street label in lid with Albemarle Street address over-stamped in red, along with instruction label for ejectors and new charge card for this gun. Case contains Boss marked snap caps and square oil bottle, pull through field cleaning kit, and cleaning equipment. CONDITION: Excellent, mostly original, with some additions. Bbls retain approx 80% orig blue, silvered on sides from normal hand wear and use. Action retains 50 - 60% orig case hardening color, silvered on beads, thinning on bottom. Lockplates retain nearly all of their orig color, left lock thinned a bit at tail. Top lever is silvering on thumbpiece, Trigger guard is silvered at sides and at grip. Stocks retain most of their orig surfaces, cleaned up a bit with added oil. Portions of butt refinished at time of addition of lengthening piece. Checkering cleaned but not re-cut. Bores are excellent, chambers lengthened. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is still relatively light in color, with some scuffs and rubs. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is good to fine, with rubs, marks, and light soiling. Label is foxed. Accessories are good.
