HIGH GRADE CIVIL WAR STAFF OFFICER'S SWORD WITH FLUTED SILVER GRIP AND EAGLE HEAD QUILLON.

This fine import sword for American market, 32" blade retaining most of its orig luster with patriotic motifs. Fluted and decorated metal grip which is silver-plated. High relief pommel and decorated US cut-out letters in basket. Silvered scabbard is brass mounted with ring mounts in raised relief of American eagle and knights head which are most unusual. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: 32" blade retains much of its orig luster with 17" etched patriotic American panels, with some staining and scuffing near ricasso. Silvered scabbard and grip retain about 80% orig plate with areas of thinning and staining. Scabbard mounts and hilt retain over half of their orig gold plate with balance a stained dark mustard/chocolate patina. And old March 1961 tag still attached states this was a general sword and is similar to Peterson Number 118. 53094-151 JS (2,500-3,500)
