OUTSTANDING SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL NUMBER 3 REVOLVER WITH FACTORY BOX AND TARGET SIGHTS. SMITH & WESSON 44 SINGLE ACTION 29793 44 RUSSIAN Cal. 44 RUSSIAN. 6-1/2" nickel finished bbl and receiver. The new model number 3 was the first cataloged revolver from Smith and Wesson with target adjustable sights. This variation having a blued blade front sight with bead on top affixed by pin in bbl and a screw adjustable windage adjustable rear sight affixed to opening latch. Case colored hammer, trigger and trigger guard with 2-pc factory monogrammed and numbered plastic checkered grips. These rare target variations are infrequently encountered and even more so rare is to be found in prime collectible condition. Housed in a Smith & Wesson factory green pebble finished box with label denoting "Smith & Wesson .44 Single Action Nickel 6-1/2" and penciled on bottom with matching SN. Traditional 2-line Smith & Wesson address on top bbl rib ending with 1871 patent date. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Outstanding overall condition with several minute areas of hazing of the nickel finish as noted. A small area behind rear sight as well as a small area to left of hammer and two small areas to rear outer edge of cylinder. Bore and mechanics are as expected to be as new. Numbers have been found to be all matching including on bbl, cylinder, frame and right grip. Box is extremely fine with near perfect label and only minor traces of distress on the interior from the storage of said revolver. Exterior of box is equally fine with slight edge wear on top of lid and on corners and with one loose corner on label end. 53094-7 TDW (4,000-5,000)
