COLT 1911 NAVY MARKED PISTOL SHIPPED AUGUST 16, 1913 WITH FACTORY LETTER.COLT1911 NAVY4234145MODERN; C&RCal. 45 ACP 5" bbl. Slide right shows "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.NAVY". Left slide shows standard 1911 last patent date marking followed by Colt's standard address. Rear of slide shows Rampant Colt. Front sight is thin tapered. Rear sight is rounded with round match. Marked "H" over firing pin stock plate. Receiver has crisp "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on dust cover. Left receiver shows Walter G. Penfield mark over mag catch. Right receiver shows SN above trigger. Top of receiver marked "H R". Stocks appear to be orig Colt double diamond type. Short, stubby hammer, short tang grip safety, flat main spring housing. Long, smooth trigger and lanyard loop magazine. Bbl is Springfield Armory manufacture marked "S P" on left lug. Factory letter shows shipment to US Navy Yard Brooklyn, NY on August 16, 1913. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner collection. CONDITION: Overall fair with only scattered patches of finish remaining in protected areas. Most of finish is in white. Front and rear sight have only minor dings and dents. Only scattered patches of orig finish in protected areas remain. Receiver shows patches of orig finish remaining in protected areas. Receiver left side shows minor dings around slide stop pin. Receiver right shows scratch at rear by hammer pin. Right stock shows heavy wear especially at bottom. Left stock shows moderate wear, mostly at bottom. Hold open tab on magazine follower needs attention. Bore is dirty but appears to be crisp. Mechanics are crisp. 52914-6 KXK (3,500-5,500)
