28" Dovetailed barrels are engraved "Linsley Brothers Makers Leeds" on deeply swamped, very narrow, game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-1\2" chambers. Serial number is engraved on tapered heavy splinter. Case hardened boxlock action features hidden third fastener, automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), and double triggers. Action is engraved with 80% coverage well cut small to medium scroll. "Linsley Brothers" is on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard are also scroll engraved. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Lightly marbled and streaked dark European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 3/4" over Silver type pad. Stock features drop points, flat top point pattern checkering on diamond hand, and a silver oval on toe line engraved "A. R. P." Short splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Gun is housed in what appears to be its original leather case with stitched leather corners embossed "T. G. B. J." on top. Interior is lined in bright green cloth, and has original large paper Linsley Brothers label in lid. Label portrays Edwardian gunners and states the Linsley Brothers provided a large inventory of different guns, and were also taxidermists and furriers. Case contains cleaning equipment, horn bodied snap caps, and a large square oil bottle, as well as a pull through cleaning kit. CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refinished. Barrels retain approx 95% of an old re-black. Action has 50 - 60% original case color. Top lever and floorplate have most of their original blue. Trigger guard has been re-blued and engraving is softened. Stock retains most of an old oil refinish, likely done with installation of newer pad. Checkering considerably worn. Bores are excellent with a hint of light frosting. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is fine with soiling, scuffs, and rubs. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is very good to fine with contact soiling and rubs. Label is fine, somewhat foxed and wrinkled. Accessories are generally good. A good gun by this seldom seen maker with great measurements and dimensions. MGM55
