Lot consists of: A.H. Fox single barrel trap guns modified for testing various loads at a proofing house. Similar guns are pictured in Colonel Charles Askins book "Modern Shotguns & Loads" on page 135. Gun (A) Features cradle mounts on a case hardened receiver and a trigger system that has been removed. Forearm mechanism has been exposed with wood removed and stock has been cut into a pistol grip. Gun is missing several parts that would have been needed for testing. No markings on the gun except for the serial number on the water table and the "Fox" logo on each side of the frame. Plain barrel with no sights. CONDITION: Barrel retains 50% blue with some pitting with excellent bore. Action retains 50% case with pitting in protected areas. Seems mechanically sound. Gun (B) Gun has unmarked case hardened frame, except for the serial number, and an exposed forearm mechanism with buttstock made into a pistol grip and capped with an A.H. Fox grip cap. This gun has more of the mechanisms for testing still attached along with an extended trigger. Blued sightless barrel. CONDITION: Barrel retains 50% original blue with light freckling and an excellent bore. Action retains 50% bright case with light freckling and corrosion in the protected areas. Interesting pieces either for the Fox collector or the ammunition collector.
