This well made and accurate copy of an early Kentucky rifle is in the style of an early J.P. Beck. The rifle features an octagonal rifled barrel marked at the breach "W.N. LARGE". The top flat is inscribed "L&J Bartley". The flat lock plate is in the Germanic style. Brass furniture including an early style trigger guard with engraved finials and sling swivels. The front ram rod ferule is trumpeted and the side plate is of early Lancaster style and is engraved with scroll work. Highly figured full length maple stock carved with relief shells behind the barrel tang and entry ferrule. Relief carved panels around lock and side plate. Left side of buttstock carved with relief C scrolls in the familiar early Lancaster style. The rifle features a sliding wooden patch box with the relief carved shell on the lid. The rifle is in excellent condition showing little use. This is a very accurate and attractive copy of an early Kentucky.
