This blued Model 1911 was manufactured the last full year of the war, 1918. Has all correct parts for this model including Type II beveled edge U notch rear sight, Type I round front sight, checkered wide spur trigger, intertwined "HP" barrel, checkered slide stop and safety, flat mainspring housing with lanyard, long smooth trigger, and diamond checkered walnut grips. Slide has Colt pony in center. Left side of frame has the eagle head proof and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Right side of slide is simply stamped "MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY". There is an inventory or rack number stamped on right side of frame ("15"). CONDITION: Slide retains approximately 75% of the original World War I blue, blending with patina. Legends are razor sharp. Frame was arsenal refinished, partially removing United States Property marking. Finish matches perfectly, retaining approximately 75% with brown freckling showing through, and done in the World War I style as to match with slide. Grips are excellent. Strong bore slightly frosted. Judging by the finish, matching color and the aging on frame, this gun was done by the arsenal probably just after the war. Accompanied by an original web belt, three extra two tone pinned base magazines and a 1942 Joseph Mosser dated holster.
