John Oberlies of Dayton Ohio made this rifle for H. H. Jacobs, also of Dayton, who shot in the Olympics and won many medals. It has 28 - 3/8" heavy round barrel marked "ERIC JOHNSON" on top and fitted with scope blocks and front block for varying sights, as needed in competition. BSA Martini action with trademark on left side is fitted with Lyman receiver sight. Stocks configured for international competition are of plain American walnut and feature large right hand cheekpiece. Point pattern checkering at grip and on various pads of long forend. A steel buttplate marked "J. OBERLIES DAYTON O" is fitted. Stocks have various decorations including a shield at center of forend engraved "1935", a silver knapped arrowhead on bottom of grip, and an inlet silver map of Ohio on left side of butt engraved "H. H. Jacobs" with a star and "Dayton". CONDITION: Excellent, retaining nearly all fine custom finishes on all surfaces. Bore is excellent. Mechanically fine.
