Built in 1978, this single trigger, automatic ejector, hammer gun is truly a work of art. The gun has 27-1/2" barrels with narrow slightly raised tapered rib with small brass front bead. The barrels have small gold bands at breech ends and are engraved on top of left tube "Abbiatico and Salvinelli". Barrel flats with 1978 proof date, makers names on lug, and marked with A&S proof. Original owners name ahead of barrel flats. Beaded action is superbly polished with gold line work throughout. The hammers are fabulously sculpted and engraved in deep relief floral pattern. The engraving extends from the front of the frame and bolsters to the trigger plate which is engraved with a royal mythical face in very deep relief. Bottom of action engraved with gold "Castore" in crown pattern surrounding it. The trigger guard tang is beaded on right side and relief engraved with scroll and mythical face. The long tang trigger guard shows the same fantastically executed deep relief scroll pattern. The top lever shows incredible piercing of a mythical bird with super relief engraving that extends to the tang and top safety. Ahead of safety is a gold inlaid "S". All metal action parts are extremely finely polished. Engravers signature "G. Pedretti, Inc." found in front of trigger guard bow. Straight grip buttstock with tear drops behind locks is checkered in two point pattern through the wrist and terminates with a finely checkered butt. Semi-beavertail forend is checkered in three point pattern with gold makers crest at center and has an Anson type push button release. Forend tip follows frame with gold line work and carving near tip. Gun is housed in a light brown A&S labeled case with red velvet interior. Within the case is the original order card with the gun from A&S describing it as found today. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near mint throughout, showing only the most minute handling and assembly wear. Appears unfired since proof. Case is in very good condition with a couple of minor water stains on outside and straps showing some wear. This is a really classy gun with incredible chiseled engraving by one of the world's best and would be a hoot to use in the field!
