(ca 1939) Retailed by Glaser of Zurich, this gun has 32" demi-bloc barrels fitted with matted ventilated rib. Makers name and address are on right side of top barrel breech section, and retailers name is on left. Coin finished double Kersten scallop backed boxlock action features non-automatic safety, pin type cocking indicators, and single selective trigger with button at right side of trigger. Action is engraved with 80% coverage well cut shaded scroll within small scroll and geometric borders. Bottom of action is engraved "Suhler Waffenwerk" "Gebruder Merkel, Suhl". Reinforcing bolsters are semi relief engraved with open shaded scroll around floral highlights. Steel trigger guard is also scroll engraved. Smoky marbled, dense European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 15" over Jostam "No Kick Coming" red pad. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching very long three piece forend has Deeley release. Gun is housed in a relatively new brown leather case with riveted on brass plated corners lined in burgundy cloth. Glaser label is in lid, and case contains a round oil bottle and a pair of snap caps. CONDITION: Fine, as partially refinished. Barrel retains nearly all of a good quality re-black. Coin finish still bright on action with some slight staining and evidence of minor cleaning. Stocks retain nearly all of a very nicely done hand rubbed oil finish, checkering correctly re-cut. Bores are fine, shiny, with some scattered pitting in bottom barrel. Mechanically fine. Case is excellent, near new. MGM157.
