(ca 1939) 26" barrels with slightly raised matted rib have Winchester markings on side of left barrel. Bands of geometric engraving at breech and muzzle ends. Barrel flats are engine turned and stamped with serial number and patent date. Barrels are marked for Skeet 1 and 2. Blued small action features non-automatic safety and gold plated single selective trigger. Action is engraved with sprays of scroll within line borders surrounding scenes of dogs which are rendered in relief gold inlay; a pointing setter is on left side of action and a beagle is on right. Floorplate has a standing pointer. Trigger plate is also marked "Skeet" and "Engr. By A. Griebel" is in arch in front of trigger guard bow. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Nicely crotch figured American walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching beavertail unbraced forend has typical J-spring and knurled button release. Iron is engine turned and ejectors are gold plated. CONDITION: Excellent, as custom finished, retaining over 90% renewed blue with wear on sharp edges of bottom of action. Stocks, possible replacements, appear to have most of their original factory finish with some light marks. Bores are excellent, just a bit loose, slightly off face. Ejectors are in time. Trigger works. A classic American shotgun incorporating a fine example of the work of this esteemed engraver. MGM187.
