Lot consists of: Gun (A) with 8" barrels, octagonal at breech, turning to round with flared cannon muzzles are British view proof marked on left flat, full Nicholson signature for Cornhill, London. The flat locks stepped at tail, signed Nicholson. Swan neck cocks with foliate engraving. Small parts appear to be all original. Spurred brass buttcaps with grotesque mask. Brass trigger guard with acorn finial and bird of paradise emerging from a scroll. Walnut full stock with thumbpiece, initials "EC(?)". Pierced sideplates of brass. Sidenails beautifully engraved. Overall length of 14-1/2". Gun (B) is in virtually identical condition. CONDITION: Actions on both guns are crisp, barrels and locks are slightly worn from polishing but remain with crisp engraving. No fractures to either cock, both frizzens are original, as are all small parts. Stocks are very fine with little if any wear. One small crack underneath lock of Gun (A), does not detract. Brass mounts in good condition throughout. Stocks appear to retain some original varnish. Both pistols have what appears to be original ramrods with horn tips and worms. Bores are excellent. All together, a beautiful pair of English flintlock blunderbuss pistols with exquisite form and by one of London's premiere makers.
