Extremely rare and known to have been offered in the 1920's to Winchester Premier stocking retailers, glass sided "WINCHESTER"rifle display case. These cases have been attributed to the Walrus Manufacturing Company of Decatur, Illinois but no definitive proof of this has ever truly surfaced. The only marking found is "64" on top of door. An example of this rifle cabinet is featured on page 201 of "WINCHESTER RARITIES" by Tom Webster. Interior has a capacity of 20 long guns with one slot modified for a double gun and interior rack has wonderful "WINCHESTER" period decals visible from all four sides. Glass peaked top. Made of quarter sawed oak of 5/8" thickness. 74-1/4" tall with a width and depth of 17-3/4". Interior is lined with green felt on base as well as upper rack. With an estimated five or six of these cases known to exist this is considered one of the rarest of Winchester collectibles available today. CONDITION: Very good with evidence of older refinish and replaced felt interior. Top has been modified to allow peaked top to tilt up for display purposes. This work appears to have been done many years ago. Typical crazing in finish. Decals are very fine with light period hazing. TDW
