The barrel cluster with some engraving between the flutes and engraving on the retaining screw. British proofs. The bar hammer with engraving throughout. German silver frame with recoil shield features scroll and border engraving. High raised relief lion mask butt. Trigger guard engraved en suite with frame. Finely checkered walnut grip panels. Pepperbox backstrap engraved Beattie, London. James Beattie is recorded as having worked from 1831-1894 in Stockel. CONDITION: Barrels have little or no corrosion retaining some darkened case colors. Hammer very crisp. Frame very crisp as one would expect from a pistol that has been cased all its life. Trigger guard mostly grey metal. Action is excellent. Original mahogany case with faded red velvet lining. Accessories comprising patch cutter, bullet mold, screwdriver, patch box, balls, spare nipple, small shell flask with spout retaining considerable original gilding and body retaining nearly all its original lacquer.
