(1973) 24" tapered round barrel fitted with open sights is marked with Browning Utah and Montreal address, caliber, and "MADE IN BELGIUM". Blued and matte finished action has side panels semi-relief gold inlaid with scenes of bull elk and cows on left, and bull moose and cows on right. These scenes have well detailed backgrounds, and are surrounded by swept gold line borders within a full field of well cut large open acanthus scroll. Engravers signature "C. Kowalski" is at rear of elk scene on left side. More scroll engraving is at bottom of magazine. Fine crotch figured American walnut pistol grip stock measures 13 - 7/8" over black white line Browning basket weave pad. Checkering at grip and matching forend terminates in carved acanthus scroll with stippled background. Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz. CONDITION: Near mint, appears almost unfired. Metal condition is near new. Wood retains nearly all of its original gloss varnish with some very minor marks on buttstock, and most minor hazing on right side of forend. Mechanically excellent. These grade V rifles are very hard to source and this one is a dandy in a very popular and effective caliber. JSL.
