The 1911 platform has stood the test of time. This is a great example of a Colt Commercial M1911 Government Model that was manufactured in 1923 based upon the serial number search in the Colt Database. With tight timing and outstanding manufacturing the M1911 became very popular and Colt decided to market a commercial version. On the left side of the pistol slide shows a two block text reading, "COLT'S PT F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. PAT'D APR.20,1897. SEPT. 9, 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14. 1011. AUG. 19, 1913". The right side of the slide below the ejection port reads, "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE.45" with the Colt Rampant horse logo towards the bore axis and not behind the slide serration which was found in the late 1913 and early 1914 models. This pistol comes with the original high polish blue finish and diamond checkered walnut grips. The pistol also has rounded front and back sights and one pinned half-tone tempered magazine. CONDITION: Firearm slide retains 80%-90% of the original bluing with light wear towards the front of the muzzle, front of grip, and on the trigger. The original grips are still textured nicely. Right grip has one small indent. The barrel still retains sharp rifling and all parts function properly. Slide stop, plug, magazine release, safety lock and hammer all retain great texture. This is overall a very nice 1911 with light wear and tight tolerances. SS
