Made in 1926 on a 1 - 1/2 Frame with original 30" Acme steel barrels with a Remington produced set of 26" barrels accompanying the gun with December 1940 date code on them. Both sets of barrels with checkered splinter forends with engraved Deeley releases and engraved steel tips. Barrel set B with proper "2" stamping on forend and barrel lug. Original barrel set with 12/1940 date code as well. Case colored and engraved action is engraved in standard CHE Grade pattern with pointer on left, setter on right, and large flying goose on bottom all surrounded by well executed Parker scroll. Gun now has Miller single selective trigger, auto ejectors, and auto safety. Capped pistol grip buttstock is checkered in flowing point pattern with beautiful fiddle back figure and terminates with a 7/8" wood extension and solid old Silvers brand type pad. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain more than 90% of their 1940 Remington blued finish. Barrel B with proper 1940 Remington cyanide case colors. Forends are very good with light handling marks and original wood finish. The action retains 30-40% original case color, engraving is still crisp. The Miller trigger was likely added during the 1940 visit to Remington. Buttstock is very good, extension as noted above, and retains most of what appears to be its factory finish with some finish added for preservation. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. This is a dynamic gun with plenty of opportunity for use in any season. PROVENANCE: From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. Accompanied by PGCA letter. JSL
