Early 1942 transitional 1911-A1 pistol with dark parkerized finish and inspected "WB" (Waldmar Broberg). Serial number on right side of frame with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "M1911A1 US ARMY". Slide has traditional Colt markings on left side of slide with matching serial number under firing pin retainer plate. Barrel is blue finish with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left of chamber "P" on left side of trunnion and "G" sub-inspection on bottom. Trigger guard has Colt's "VP" proof on front left side. Grips are Keyes reinforced plastic grips. Short checkered milled trigger and short borderless checkered wide hammer. Both safeties are checkered. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with most all original finish remaining with exception of very light edge wear. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling action operates properly. This transitional pistol is without the later Ordnance wheel inspection but still has the earlier WB inspection. A very fine early war example. TDW
