Dovetail lump barrels with single bead on smooth concave tapered rib engraved "COGSWELL & HARRISON Ltd 168 PICCADILLY, LONDON". Light scroll and line engraving over breech. Action flats with initial nitro proofing for 2-1/2" 12 gauge shells and later reproof for 2-3/4" shells. Added system to convert extractors to ejectors. Forearm with Anson release, checkered in point pattern, with blued engraved escutcheon; engraved on exterior in scroll. Serial number on interior iron. S8idelock action with cocking indicators engraved in flowing scroll and signed "COGSWELL & HARRISON Ltd" on each plate. Automatic safety with "SAFE". Sidepanels converge to teardrops. English straight style stock with point pattern checkering. Silver escutcheon at toe. Added red rubber recoil pad with black line spacer. Housed in a black leather case with brass appointments and partitioned to house stock and barrels and accessories comprising oil bottle and two spent 2-1/2" Winchester shells intended for use as snap caps. Reproduction Cogswell and Harrison label in lid and an article on C&H shotguns from 1995. CONDITION: Very good as refurbished. Barrels retain much of a reblue, probably done at time of reproofing, with some bumps and bruises throughout from handling and use. Rib has distinct cut approximately 3" from breech, indicating possible resleeving, added ejector system has some silvering at edges where added. Forearm is very good as refurbished with a few marks from handling and operation, iron has small area of oxidation under bluing. Action has traces of case color, mostly in protected areas. Stock very good with a few marks from the field. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Action works correctly, bores are very good with some light evidence of use. Case with some scrapes throughout; and some rubbing to lining. Label is fine. EW
