Manufactured in 1930, this Colt Police Positive revolver, is unique in that it was shipped to W.C. Harwood for the American Express Agency in May of 1930, as according to its factory letter. The backstrap correlates with this, as it is marked "RY.EX.AGY." on the backstrap and is fitted with a 4" .38 S&W Special barrel. Half-moon blade front sight with a serrated top strap and notched rear sights. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT POLICE POSITIVE .38", with Colt's 2 line address across the top. Rampant Colt logo is present on the left side of the frame. Mounted with 2 piece checkered walnut Colt silver medallion grips. Interior of left grip retains a hand written "POLICE/ POS .38" with the same on the right side, but written on tape. Complete with its original factory box, which is matched by a handwritten serial number on the bottom of the box. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, showing some scattered scratches, handling marks, and wear, as one would expect from a railroad used gun. Mirror bore with well defined rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips show wear and scattered handling marks. Box shows some age wear and what appears to be some light water damage on the bottom of the box. End label shows losses around the edges, but is otherwise in good condition. Hand written serial number on the bottom of the box is faded and worn but legible. A Colt Police Positive revolver with a unique and intriguing history. -MLW-
