1893 vintage Colt Sheriff's Model single action revolver, serial number 149065. 4" round barrel chambered in .44-40 Winchester Centerfire with blade front sight, 2-line barrel address, and frame notch rear. Professionally period engraved in about 75% coverage with New York style scrolls on a punch dot background with accenting wriggle work, sunbursts on either side of gas shield and top of backstrap, stars on bottom of trigger guard and both sides of frame, with checkered panel on backstrap. Exact date of engraving and name of engraver are unknown. 2-piece plain Mother of Pearl grips. CONDITION: Good, with all metal assemblies worn to an even dove grey patina with scattered handling marks. Engraving is sharp. Grips are slightly shy at backstrap but are overall well-fitting with minor age-related cracking near intersection of grips and frame. Action is slightly out of time, but relationship between hammer and sear is crisp. Bore is dark with well-defined rifling. TON
CORRECTION: This is a standard model Single Action Army with the ejector rod housing cut away from the frame, barrel has been shortened, and the barrel address is hand engraved.
