Manufactured in 1882. The front sight has been changed. The one that is on it has the profile of a Single Action Army sight, however, it was made out of a silver U.S. coin. You can see an eagle head and banner on the left side of the sight. 2-piece ivory grip panels that are worn and smooth. Scratched on the inside of the right grip is "BILLY BONNY". It is documented that Billy the Kid did carry a Colt Thunderer, but Pat Garret killed Billy the Kid on July 14, 1881. The center pin has been replaced by a cut down sheriff's model pin. It is engraved. CONDITION: Gun retains 30% of the non-original nickel finish. Grips are worn and do not fit the gun very well. Bore is dark with some pitting and frosting in the lands and grooves. Comes in a modern oak case with screwdriver and cleaning rod. REW
CORRECTION: The Colt Factory letter states this gun was shipped May 3, 1882 to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in New Haven, Connecticut in a shipment of 2 guns. They were shipped in-the-soft for aftermarket engraving.
