Nice example of a World War II era Chelsea Clock Co. ship's clock which was meant to be mounted on the wall of deck and engine rooms. The case is constructed of black phenolic resin and features a hinged bezel that is secured with a knurled screw knob fastener. The face is black which contrasts the white numerals, white enamel spade hands, and sweep second hand. The face is marked “Chelsea Clock Co. / Boston” and “U.S. Government / Ser. No.”. A brass specification label was fastened to the reverse of the case which reveals a manufacturer date of 1963 along with other stock and contract numbers. The clock is missing its key and the second hand does not turn when influenced. CONDITION: The phenolic resin case is nicely preserved and does not exhibit any major cracks. The glass exhibits some scattered blemishes but is otherwise clean. Face exhibits scattered scratches. Overall very good. JLD
