Extremely desirable L.C. Smith 20 gauge Crown Grade with Featherweight frame made by the Hunter Arms Company in Fulton, New York in 1925. Blued 32" Crown Steel Nitro Proofed fluid steel barrels with special order ventilated rib, twin bead sights, and ejectors. Barrels marked on left barrel "MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. FULTON, N.Y." and on the right " L.C. SMITH "CROWN" GRADE". Gun is also marked on water table that it has 3" chambers. This gun is one of 145 Crown Grades made in 20 gauge and 1 of 26 with 32" barrels. Case hardened sidelock Featherweight frame with vignette near full coverage engraving with pointing dogs in circle on right hand side and left hand side with gold crown on opening lever pin. Gun has Hunter One trigger single selective trigger and blued floral engraved trigger guard. Figured walnut English style flair checkered straight stock with Monte Carlo comb, leather-covered recoil pad, and checkered walnut Schnabel type beavertail forearm with roller latch. Comes with factory letter indicating shipment to "J.J. Stangel Hardware Company" and verifies all options except Monte Carlo stock, recoil pad, English grip, and 3" chambers. Stock is marked under trigger guard with "C 85309" which matches the gun serial number, so we believe this stock and chambers to be factory correct. CONDITION: 92% original blue with sharp barrel markings and engraving with some light case wear. Original engine turn visible at bores. 90% plus case colors with light carry wear on frame with screws having been turned. Trigger guard possibly refinished at one time. Wood shows traces of original finish with sharp checkering with recoil pad showing wear on the leather face. Excellent bores and mechanics. A rare gun with collector condition. DLM
