Originally manufactured circa the 1920s by Winchester as a Winder Musket for the U.S. military, with this example being later converted and fitted with a .410 bore barrel. The top flat of the barrel bears Winchester's 2-line address, with ".410-3" stamped at the rear. Top of frame bears a "US" stamp over an ordnance bomb behind the hammer, with "WINCHESTER" above patent information present on the upper tang. Rifle has been restored, exhibiting a a case colored frame, blued barrel, as well as a replacement forend & buttstock. Front sight and trigger are nitre blued. Barrel exhibits scroll engraving and a light gold line at the breech and muzzle, with the lower 3 flats exhibiting a line and checkered design at the muzzle. Features include a 30" octagonal smoothbore barrel, Marbles #2 front sight, Marbles rear sight, solid wood forend & buttstock, as well as a contemporary fully checkered buttplate. CONDITION: Very good as restored, with metal components retaining the majority of their blue and case colored finishes. Barrel exhibits some areas of pitting beneath the finish. Frame retains vibrant case coloring, and exhibits some spots of light pitting beneath its finish. Barrel retains a bright and mirror bore. Wood furniture exhibits some scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine. MLW
