Manufactured 1917. Half-moon front sight, U-notch flat top rear sight. Left side with 2-line 2-block patent and address information with serif font. Rear of slide with uncircled rampant Colt. Right side with "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45". Barrel marked with a "P" in front of lug. Frame marked with "I" and "S" on top of bridle. Right side of frame with "GOVERNMENT MODEL / C87141", left side trigger guard with Colt VP proof and "I" subinspector proof. Small parts comprise of checkered spurred hammer, checkered slide release with relief mill cut, thick tab safety with relief mill cut, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. 2-tone magazine with lanyard loop and pinned base. When this gun was previously sold at public auction, it was attributed to General James P. Parker, Adjutant General of Massachusetts. CONDITION: Overall very good plus retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with some scattered spots of spotting primarily to slide, heaviest around ejection port, with some patination visible in the cocking serrations. Frame excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with some dark spots on the dust cover and a few scattered spots of oxidation. Minor takedown mark. Straps are very good, front strap with minor scattered oxidation, mainspring housing approximately half-covered with chocolate oxidation. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong visible rifling and some scattered frosting towards edges of grooves. EMW
